Gun Owners, Apathy and Barack Obama

The NRA has already sounded the alert about Barack Obama. It would seem, though, that many gun owners think the NRA is just engaging in scare tactics. Obama is polling well in heavily pro-gun states.

This is the same Barack Obama who voted for Ted Kennedy's ammunition ban. The same Obama who voted for a ban on handguns. The same candidate who supported the DC gun ban.

The problem is that he's been on so many sides of gun issues that he's managed to convince many gun owners that he's not a threat to them.

If you think that's not possible, consider Wisconsin in 2002. Then-attorney general Jim Doyle was running for governor. For twelve years as attorney general he proposed bans on short-barreled handguns, bans on shotguns, and even helped a state senator draft a bill that would have banned all ammunition except that specifically designed for single-shot firearms (meaning that all ammunition would have been banned).

The NRA sounded the alarm, but all Doyle had to do was send a mailing directed at gun owners to union members. The mailing assured that Doyle supported the rights of hunters and sportsmen. That was it. That was all he needed to do. Despite the fact that Wisconsin has one of the highest percentages of NRA members of any state in the country, Doyle won.

If it can happen in Wisconsin, it can certainly happen in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Virginia, and just about every other pro-gun state.

This will likely be a bad year for Republicans. And, if Obama is elected, we can expect all sorts of new anti-gun legislation, from a new ban on Evil Black Rifles to a ban on private gun sales, and more. And we just might see enough gutless Republicans cave on these issues that the bills make it to Obama's desk.

Even more important is the Supreme Court. The next president will appoint as many as three new justices. The Heller case hung on a string, with Justice Kennedy being the swing vote. That means that four justices were willing to rewrite the Constitution to suit their political philosophies.

Barack Obama isn't just a threat to those who like AR's or AK's. He's a threat to anyone who values the right to keep and bear arms for any purpose.

What happened in 2002 with the governor's election here in Wisconsin can happen with the presidential election if gun owners don't unite.

God help us if we don't.

Ladner Opposes Government Growth

My interview with the Greeneville Sun newspaper.
http://greenevillesun.com/story/296778/1

Why Am I Running For Office?

I am running for the United States Senate because right now of all the laws passed in Washington DC last year. Only one in 100,000 was passed by Congress if that many.

All the other laws disguised as rules, regulations, codes, guidelines and standards were written by non elected bureaucrats. Writing for agencies attached to the executive branch of government.

To put it to you bluntly.

The Executive branch of government is making 999,000 laws for every one legitimately passed by Congress.

If you don’t believe this. Every time you see a business, businessman or individual being fined or prosecuted for violating an EPA – OSHA – FDA – FCC etc. etc. etc. rule or regulation.
You begin to realize that these rules, regulations, codes, guidelines and standards are made by bureaucrats in the executive branch of government. Not Congress.

Go to any law school library and ask the librarian to show you the EPA, FCC, OSHA regulations. The volumes will cover an entire wall. With the hundreds and thousands of sections and subsections – sub-sub-sections etc.

All of which are laws. None of which were passed by the Congress!

All of these agencies are part of the executive branch of government.

James Madison’s writings ought to be evident too everybody.

“The accumulation of all power legislative, judicial, executive in the same hands. Whether of one a few or many. Where self appointed heredity or elected.
May justly be pronounced the very definition of tyranny.”

(FYI: Tyranny which is the arbitrary use of government power is the opposite of liberty. Just as freedom is the opposite of slavery)

We are every day loosing more and more of our liberty to an ever increasing more and more powerful Federal bureaucracy.

I am running for the United States Senate to put a stop to this.

Just Thought You’d Like To Know

Prior to this election in general. When a debate was over between the candidates in a public forum.

A few people in the audience had the pleasure of asking one or two questions.

All that has changed:

There is a great fear that somebody in the audience will ask “If this program is put in will it increase the size, cost, reach or power of government?”

This question strikes fear in the hearts of practically all of the candidates whether they are masquerading as democrats or republicans. For these candidates know that the solutions they are offering do increase the Size, Cost, Reach and Power of government.

And they are deathly afraid that the public will discover what they (handpicked democrats and republicans)
have been doing for the past 75 years!

Hence – in case you haven’t noticed - NO questions are being taken from the audience! Thus preventing an ordinary person from asking the most vital question ever asked.
“Will this increase the Size, Cost, Reach or Power of government?”

Just thought you’d like to know.

The Injustice of Handgun Bans - citizens prosecuted for defending themselves

Rather than deterring criminals, who will manage to have a gun in violation of the law, handgun bans will result in the unjust prosecution citizens who are defending themselves against criminals. Such an outcome is plainly contrary to the (misguided) intent of such bans, which is to protect law abiding citizens from criminals. A couple of example from the state of Illinois help illustrate the point: http://www.learnaboutguns.com/2008/07/09/the-injustice-of-handgun-bans-citizens-prosecuted-for-defending-themselves/

Are we loosing our country?

Or is it already lost? I dont no about you but It seems I ask myself That question in one way or another every day. Weather it from something I see or from something thats said. For example,I was in the Marine recruting station the other day, looking for an old friend who is still in active duty. The recruter gave my 9 year old son a hat that said MARENES in the front of it.I thought it was a kind jesture being that I had paid for it anyway. This hat was very nice so we took the hat home and I began to take a closer look at this hat. Underneath this hat I looked at the tag witch was facing a downward position and I new what it was going to say but I couldnt bring myself to turn the tag over for fear of what I was going to see. I just couldnt affiliate something as strong and fearless as the United States Marine with some one who hated freedom. But reluctantly i gave in to my own curiosity and looked. Suprisingly I didnt immidiatly turn to salt but unfortunitly it read what my own fears had spoken, MADE IN CHINA. "What is this country comming to" is not a phraes that I use any more." What has this country become" Have we lost who we are? What would our founding fathers say? I dont know about you but every day of my life, I strive to make my parents proud of me in every thing I do. I have to, I owe it to them for what they have done for me. Do we not owe the same to our founding fathers the same gratitude or should we squander over the lowest bidder on a simple hat. Life is a gift as is freedom that is given by the creator and it is my rite to be free to do whatever I damn well please, but it is my duty and obligation to honor those who fought and died to provide these things to me. Who is the American who says enough is enough? Who will draw a line in the sand? Wile every day tiny little peices of who we are are picked away like the hat that belongs to my son. And befor you know it there will be nothing left. We will be left for the taking or have we been taken already. What do you believe?

Be Nice to the Newbie...

My husband has been on me for a long time (read: years) to start shooting. He's insisted that I just learn the basic rules of gun safety and how to use one "just in case." Sounds reasonable, but I kept putting off his request. I would make a trip here and there with him to a range or an event, but I always turned my nose up for some reason or another.

A few months ago the bug finally bit me and I love it! My husband was thrilled and bought me a Glock 17. I decided to blog about my entry into the gun culture and start shooting IDPA competitively (wow, I suck).

You can check out my blog at www.prettypistolera.com

I would love to hear any feedback or advice... please help the girl out!

UPDATE 7.9.08: The feeds to the Pretty Pistolera blog are now up and running. Thanks to Sailorcurt and Steve for the heads-up :)

2nd amendment and concealed carry group in Seattle

With the mayor of Seattle trying to ban all guns on city property, I am starting a gun rights/concealed carry group here in Seattle. Looking for people who want to stand up for their rights. I plan on doing trips to different ranges as a group, Council meetings, fund raisers and other activities as a group to show that we are not the same as criminals. Not limited to Seattle but surrounding areas as well. There is no organized group here and if we don't stand up for our rights they will take them away. Anyone interested in joining me let me know. Another Look At "Heller"

6/30/08

Significance of the “Heller” ruling.

The purpose of the “Heller vs. DC” ruling is this. To establish the supremacy of the Supreme Court on all things Constitutional.

Essentially this ruling makes the words in the Constitution meaningless.
The only thing that counts is what the Supreme Court says it says.

Consider this:

Article One: “All power belongs to the Supreme X”

Article Two:
Article Three:
Article Four:
Article Five:

If you want to know what these articles say you must have the people in article one tell you. Which means what is written is meaningless? Except for the meaning given to it by the Supreme X. Even when the Supreme X is saying the opposite of what is written.

Haven’t you noticed that not a peep has been heard from the ACLU?
This ruling has been called a “Landmark” decision. What is a “Landmark?”
This is a decision that destroys a section of the Constitution.
A “Landmark” is a message to the liberals to shut up.

This decision establishes the authority of the Supreme Court to say what anything in the constitution means independent of and contrary to written word and common understanding.

That is why it’s called a Landmark decision. And in no way is that decision a victory for anybody except the communists, fascists, and socialists pretending to a world wide throne.

Please read the Soviet Constitution. http://www.marxists.org/history/ussr/government/constitution/1918/article1.htm
“All the central and local power belongs to these Soviets”
A “Soviet” is a committee.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soviet_(council)
That committee governs’ a particular section of life. If all power belongs to the Soviet then what ever comes after that means nothing.

Take for example the “Frankfurter Doctrine.”
It basically says that the Constitution of the United States of America is whatever the Supreme Court says it says. Take another look at the Soviet Constitution.

The solution for this and all our problems is to elect ordinary people to the House of Representatives who will VOTE NO on any bill that expands the size, cost, extends the reach or increases the power of the government!

The Purpose Of The Second Amendment

The Purpose Of The Second Amendment

Question
Why was the Second Amendment put into the Constitution?
Answer
So that we could protect ourselves from the government!
Other measures to protect US from the government were:

1) The fedgov could have no army in peacetime.
2) Fedgov could not quarter troops in our houses
3) Fedgov could send troops into a state only with the consent of the state government or during an insurrection.
Question
Without an army how could the federal government defend the country against invasion and war?
Answer
By calling out the militia: Each state had an organized militia under the control of the state government (the officers were trained by the federal government).
Question
What was to prevent the state government from using the militia against its own citizens?
Answer
To regulate that is to control the militia the Founder’s said “Arm the entire population”
THAT is the Second Amendment.
In the “Federalist Papers” the founders asserted that the combined militias of the states would be stronger than any force the Federal Government could raise, and by the same reasoning an armed population would be stronger than any militia a State Government could use against its citizens.
The Second Amendment has nothing whatsoever to do with hunting, sportsmanship or target shooting:
The claim that it does has been made by people who want to exclude the ordinary citizens.
(Who are not hunters, sportsmen or target shooters) from the debate.
This allows those promoters to agree to a series of compromises which over time will disarm the people and leave US at the mercy of the government.

District of Columbia v. Heller - Supreme Court Declares Gun Ownership an Individual Right!

The Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) has declared the Second Amendment protects the right of an individual to keep and bear arms, striking down the (failed) District of Columbia handgun ban. This article discusses what exactly the court held, and what that means for American gun owners:

http://www.learnaboutguns.com/2008/06/26/district-of-columbia-v-heller-supreme-court-declares-gun-ownership-an-individual-right/

Gun Ownership is a Right, Not a Privilege

Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin issued a statement that argued cities should be able to ban guns, and that denying cities that ability would result in increased crime. This statement, aside from being inaccurate, fails to take into account that gun ownership is a right, and the rights of law abiding citizens cannot be denied just because it is politically expedient to do so. Allow me to explain further:

You Can Have the Arms the Founders Would Have Used

In this latest Bite Me, Brady entry, we focus on the logical disconnect of our favorite form of gun banner, the Strict Constructionist. Here, we take him to task on his interpretation of the Constitution and display a gun that is free of "reasonable restrictions". It is a gun that is legally a non-gun but is still a gun.

Gun Bloggers in The News

HDNews highlighted a group of North Texas Action Pistol Shooters (who also happen to be bloggers) in a very posative feature.

Beretta PX4?

Hello all,

im brand new to the blog and joined to get some good information and some honest opinions. ill be turning 21 soon and want to get my CCW as well as "MY" first pistol. a bit of background on me. im used to shooting the good ol 1911 .45 ACP and the dan wessen .357 hand cannon which i will always have a soft spot for both. with that said, here is the dilemma. im a left handed shooter and have been researching handguns like mad looking for one with ambidextrous features with a comfy fit for my meathooks for hands. after extensive research i found that i favored the Beretta PX4 .40 over the springfeild XD but only due to personal preference. i like handguns with hammers and i liked the fit and look of the beretta better as well as the fact that you can change grip sizes and how easy it is to take apart and clean. not to put down the XD guys because im sure it is a fine weapon.

one thing ive noticed while doing online research on guns is the closed mindedness of people and their guns. one guy put it flat out flawlessly on a blog id read. his words were something to the extent of " gun owners are like religous finatics, the brand they like is, in their mind, the best and nothing else will ever compare." and they do that without even explaining why they feel that way. my attitude towards these people is that i take it with a grain if salt. if they cant explain why they think this gun maker or that gun is the best then they probally dont know what they're talking aboutin the first place. by all means im no gun expert but as far as gun companys go, if i like the gun and it fits me and what i want to do with it than theres no problem. i will never put down someone for their choice in weapon as long as they chose it for the right reasons, not because its the cool one that everyones got. and if you happen to like a pistol that everyone you know has because it fits and it caters to your needs and wants than theres absolutely nothing wrong with that. im not particular to any gun maker. i am particular however, to accuracy, reliability, fit and feel, and quality which is why i need your help.

i know little to nothing about the beretta PX4 except for what ive read on the net( and we all know about believing what you read) and what ive come to know by handiling one in a gun store. what im looking for is some input on accuracy and reliability, and likes and dislikes. id go to a gun store with a range and test fire one except that none of the gun stores in my area have ranges where you can rent or test fire guns.

thanks all and i look forward to hearing what you have to say.

Kimber Quality

Anyone who frequents gun forums has certainly read plenty of posts slamming Kimber on the quality of their handguns.

For years I've been dismissing these complaints as the usual rants about Brand X or Y. However, on a recent visit to my local gun store, I handled a new Kimber. Maybe the complaints aren't just rants.

I bought my first Kimber ten years ago. It was a Stainless Gold Match, as shown in the photo in the link. The pistol had mirror-like polishing on the flats and fine bead-blasting on the top of the slide and along the frame. The rosewood grips were also very nicely figured.

Since then I've bought a Pro Carry and an Eclipse Target, and have been very happy with both. The Eclipse and the Stainless Gold Match are guns that I pamper, but the Pro Carry shows a ton of holster wear.

Anyway, when at the gun shop recently, I took a look at a Stainless Gold Match, and was really taken aback. The polishing on the flats looked like it had taken maybe ten minutes to do, and was dull. The bead-blasting didn't have the same stipple. It looked like the type of bead-blasting that would be used on a part for a car. And there was no figuring in the rosewood grips. I had to look closely to be sure the grips were real wood.

Other aspects of the pistol were similarly lacking the quality of the Kimbers I have now.

The Stainless Gold Match I looked at carried a $1300 price tag, which is no small amount of money for a production pistol. The Gold Match I bought ten years ago cost under $1000, which was a lot of money then, too.

I've had a couple of problems with my Kimbers, including having a new MIM safety on my Pro Carry break (I broke the original safety, as well as other parts, when the pistol fell out of my holster onto a tile floor). Overall, though, they've been excellent guns, as good as my Colts or Remingtons or Benelli.

Kimber had a great thing going with their products. Why would they screw it up?

$29.95 .50BMG

It's funny when parody can become official Government fact. It's sad when the Brady Campaign parrots that information as if it were holy writ and actually uses it to further their own agenda. Talk about getting suckered on both sides by a gag!

Read more about their ineptitude here.
