The Greatest Loophole There Is

Gun controllers often say that they desperately need to close the "gun show loophole" because it allows people to obtain guns legally (illegally in their minds) without Government oversight. Apparently they've never heard of this, the greatest threat to peace and goodwill that they want to force upon you: The Manufacturing Loophole.

Wander over and take a tour of the landscape on this little-talked about method for obtaining guns: making your own.

Why is Gun Registration/Licensing Even Legal?

I'm looking for thoughts from folks on this topic. 18 USC 926(a) specifically prescribes against the establishment of systems of licensing and registration for owners or guns and yet, States seem to do it.

Am I misreading the law here? If so, please clarify? If not, please tell me how registration of any gun or licensing of owners (IL FOID anyone?) are legal under this statute? I'd love legal opinions from lawyers who deal with 2A cases.

Just wondering aloud, folks. This is a pet peeve of mine.

A Rifle Named Paul

The latest entry in the "Bite Me, Brady!" series. Guaranteed to induce PSH in the staunchest gun controller. Unlike a lot of impersonal rifles and guns out there, this one was made especially for Paul Helmke and is dedicated to him.

Enjoy!

Microstamping and Lead Ammo Ban in California!

Well, the Governator just did it. He signed the microstamping and lead ammo bans in California.

More freedom bites the dust.

Shooter In Need, Only .22LR Need Apply

Can anyone out there with experience with NRA Smallbore competition give me some recommendations for a good .22LR rifle. Budget is up to $1000.

More info here.

Many thanks.

Scary White Rifle

Third in our ongoing series on ways to annoy the Brady Campaign with facts and details, I present to you an AR-15 that is unmistakable on the firing line. In a sea of black rifles, the white rifle stands alone.

Enjoy!

Feinstein Wants To Make .50BMG and "copycats" NFA

Just in courtesy of the Guntards is a new bill from Diane Feinstein that would make the .50BMG and equivalent "copycats" (and not in caliber either) NFA "destructive devices".

For those in Maryland, Barbara Mikulski is a co-sponsor.

Three Ways the VA Tech Shooter Could Have Been Stopped

Not a magic solution and I am operating with the benefit of hindsight, but I present my views on how the VA Tech killer might have been stopped. No new legislation in sight on this one.

Attacking Media Distortions about VA Tech

We need to start countering the lies and distortions by the media and get folks to start thinking about these events rationally. Nothing could have been done to predict this or prevent it up until the moment the shooter drew a gun and pulled the trigger.

Us Sheepdogs Weep

I'm still sorting out the events of yesterday at VA Tech. I'm bracing for the storm that I know is coming from the BC, VPC and all the other assorted elites who feel we don't deserve the right or the chance to defend ourselves.

They say your first reaction is the right one. I hope mine is.

Barrett Rifles Still Stands by Their "No .50 for me, No .50 for you!" Policy

Not really newsworthy but nice to see it is still policy for Barrett Rifles to refuse sales and service to any State who has banned the .50 caliber from citizen ownership.

Hat's off to them!

Both Barrels on the Gun Guys

At least the Brady Campaign tends to keep shrill garbage like this to a minimum nowawdays except for public hearings. It is amazing the lies that money can buy.

Twisting the Tail of an Anti and some mid-week Porn

In this week's posts, we take on a classic Anti, Ms. Cynthia Tucker, by taking her to task for her compilation of the usual cries for gun control in the blood of victims. All law and no chaw.

And for those who need your fix, a little mid-week gun porn to get you over the hump. Alas, this is a case of Swedish cosmetic surgery that pains me. Still, I love her nonetheless.

Annoying Paul Helmke, One Gun at a Time

A little gun porn for those of you out there. A common subject with an uncommon heritage. Opener in what will be a series of posts designed to upset Paul Helmke and his ilk.

Taking Roving Reporter Eugene Robinson to Task

Our local op-ed columnist is doing a little guest writing off the reservation. Some it is almost balanced but in classic Washington Post fashion, he runs with a good thing and leaps right off the cliff with it.

So a fisking away we go.

Enjoy.

A Post-Mortem on Maryland SB.43
