Fox's AR...

It's been awhile since I've posted anything, but I've been terribly busy. Regardless, I thought I'd show you all the project I've been working on lately.

Here we have my present AR with it's free-float forward grip, complete and ready to use but lacking some very important things in my opinion (like a rail platform, backup iron sights, forward grip, and light). However, I am presently waiting on some parts to turn it into a true 'tactical' weapon.

For the last two months, I've had a POF 415 upper on order with the 16" barrel, P-9X rails, and Troy Sights. So, once the upper gets here, I can put everything together and give everyone an 'After' picture.

All told, this is a very expensive project, but it's also my first AR, so I feel it should be the best I can make it.

Trigger

I hope you are adding a two-stage trigger so that you can drive the whole package. I suggest the Jewel or Rock River.

I'm split between a JP or one of those enclosed drop in Chip McCormick single stanges. Based on how I shoot, a two-stage would be added expense without real value. I'm setting this up as a CQC weapon, not a target shooter... but yes, a trigger job is on the list.

JP Trigger

Fox-

I've installed a JP trigger and came out with a very nice trigger, very sweet and light with almost no overtravel. It required a bit of work and patience but it was worth it. I did it in two evenings. The first evening I familiarized myself with what needed to be done but I didn't feel like doing it just then.

I installed it the next evening. The only time consuming part is carefully grinding the rear of the internal trigger extension to fit the safety. A dremel and patience are highly prized for this portion of the job. The frustrating part is tapping in and out the oversised trigger and hammer pins again and again and again while fitting it.

You can do it in one evening.

If you opt for the McCormick trigger please post your thoughts on it, I'm considering one myself but I wouldn't say no to another J&P Enterprises trigger either.

McCormick Trigger Group

I have 2 AR's from DPMS. One is a long barreled for varmint shooting that came with an bad trigger. I purchased the McCormick 2 stage Trigger group and wow what a difference! It went in with no problems and it shoots great. My other one is a Panther and the trigger is ok but I'd like to put a single stage in it. It's my home defense gun and well, I can't find one anywhere. What's up with McCormick? Does anyone know if they had some quality problems or something else?
