Milsurp fever: Catch it!

Okay, so I finally got my C&R license last month (soup-to-nuts, it took less than four weeks from the time I sent in the application to the time I received the license. I was unaware the .gov could move that quickly...)

I recently made my first C&R-qualified purchase (a Turkish Mauser that was so cheap I couldn't pass it up) - will post pics once I have a chance to clean her up a bit.

And now I have my first honest-to-goodness C&R order placed - a CZ-52 7.62X25mm handgun (living in the Volksrepublik of MA, I swore that the first gun ordered by mail would be a handgun just because...) :)

Needless to say, I am going to have to put an axe through my computer, because if I stay online any longer I am gonna buy myself into the poorhouse...

'Cuz, those Sistemas are looking pretty tempting. And who can resist a Nagant revolver for under $100? I've got to get a Mosin Nagant M44 carbine to go along with the 91/30, right?

Oh yeah. I'm in trouble...

Have you been to Xavier's?

Xavier has some more info on the Sistemas you are possibly drooling over. I've wanted one myself, so I know where you're coming from.

I saw the same thing. It has

I saw the same thing. It has certainly cooled my desire for a Sistema, that's for certain.

Especially since the price has already gone up $20 from $439 to $459 - at that price, I might as well hold out for an actual C&R Colt (running around $700).

Nah, there's plenty of milsurps for under $200 (heck, under $150) before I get to that stage. Besides, for $500 I want one of the P-38s. I've got three 1911s. Don't have a P-38.

Yet.

Yeah, I hear ya

I'm still debating myself on getting a C&R.

I do like my 91/30, though. =)

Check out http://www.tngunparts.com for decently priced milsurl parts.

This could be expensive

My heart says yes, but my wallet says heck no! Though there a bunch of modern guns I want to get right now... (and a CMP Garand) so, maybe that would be a good way to ease in to C&R. Get the license when I'm saving up for other gun stuff...

CZ-52

I've been carrying a cz-52 for several months now. I really like mine. It's rather slim for its size, and packs quite a bang. Alot of fun to shoot. Mine is much more accurate than the user.

DO IT!!!

"It", of course, being get your C&R license.

Guys, look, it's $30 for three years. I placed a small order with MidwayUSA today ($50 with shipping, including Dealer Catalog). I saved $13 ON THIS ORDER. That's nearly halfway to the license paying for itself and I've only had it a month!!!

I'll have to admit, a good portion of my desire to get my C&R license has to do with living in the Volksrepublik of MA (with the {spit} Approved Firearms Roster {spit}, don't get me started) and liking the idea of having handguns delivered right to my door and there being not a damn thing that Tom Reilly can do about it. (Okay, that's some sort of record for a run-on sentence I think...)

But the dealer specials at supply stores like MidwayUSA and Brownells alone make it worth your while. Easily.

Like Nikeâ„¢ says, Just Do It...

ATTN: JayG

JayG, what do you mean you saved $13 on your Midway order? They give discounts for those with C&R's? Dang, if so I wish I knew that earlier as I have had my C&R for a few years now...

Bitstream, You send (mail)

Bitstream,

You send (mail) them a signed copy of your C&R along with a short introductory letter. Be sure to include your current MidwayUSA customer number so they know who to upgrade. They will give you "dealer" pricing on most items as well as a dealer catalog.

It's WELL worth the $0.39 (stamp), believe me!!! A friend of mine ordered a scope for his M1A and saved ~ $300 - paid for 30 years of C&R licensing right there...

And did I mention I like getting firearms mailed to my doorstep LEGALLY?!?!?!?! :)

Dealer Prices?

Damn, I didn't know that.

I'll get right on it. =)

>And did I mention I like

>And did I mention I like getting firearms mailed to my doorstep LEGALLY?!?!?!?! :)

Yep, been enjoying that for a few years now...but I do tend to over indulge it seems... :)

Bloody Expensive Cost Savings

Being a fellow People's Republic denizen I agree, getting handguns delivered to my door, passing hopefully through, not past, Tom Reilly's nose, sideways, spinning... where was I? Yeah, C&R is a terrefic thing to have, but I find it easy to get into "ooh, I can save $50 dollars here, $25 here, $100 here... Until I've spent about $400 more than my boss/accountant/wife allows... Not pretty.

How long?

How long did it take them to respond?
