I'm getting to technical

I'm getting to technical for my own good. Maybe it was the military training where you memorize the firearm nomenclature before you learn to march in a straight line. Or maybe it comes from my father who always said "if it's worth doing, it's worth doing right". Either way, I have a problem that my shooting buddies think is funny as heck. I just can't stand it when I hear someone refer to a magazine as a clip. I know, I know, these days they are pretty mush interchangeable. I just can't brake from what I was taught over and over again.
A "clip" holds the rounds at the base of the cases and is inserted into the internal magazine of a weapon (like th M1 Garand) while a "magazine" completely encompasses the rounds and is inserted into a well.
It's a source of amusement for my buddies (I'm happy that I make them happy.) and a source of angst for me. I know it doesn't really matter, but dang it, if it's worth doing, it's worth doing right.

Now I think there's a problem.

My understood definition was that a magazine has a spring and a clip doesn't. Think about it, can you think of a clip with a spring or a magazine without one?

I bow to your wisdom

Your right. I can't think of a clip with a spring or a magazine without one. Either way would be correct if you think about it but I will bow to your wisdom in this. I was really pointing out that I'm stuck in my ways in some things. I guess the average person couldn't care less what I call a magazine and can't figure why I would be worried what they call one. Its just when someone says "clip" the first thing I look for is a M1 or SKS, Not a Glock.

Yeah, it's a bit annoying.

I taught a female friend of mine to shoot. Along the way I taught her all the terminology. She reports an interesting time was had explaining to other friends of hers, who tend to shoot their Glocks sideways, the difference between a magazine and a clip. They were a bit surprised that such information would come from a woman. They also didn't believe her that her best shooting has been done with a 92FS. Apparently it's too big for her. Her groups tend to disagree. I guess they got a lesson in firearms and feminism all at once.

People are weird

Yeah, I just love trying to get some people to hold the pistol upright. I wonder if they will ever put the sights on the side. HA! As for the the friends, Have your friend challenge them to a scored shoot. That should shut them up........Or maybe not.
