New Scattergun : QuestionVitals: This isn't an old, rare or high quality gun, but I can't seem to find a lot of information about it on the interwebs (like when it was made, or how many they produced.) Does anyone know more about this gun? All I know is that my granddad bought it (possibly from Sears) at the same time he got my dad a Remington 878 Automaster. The gun is in nearly perfect condition (just a wee bit of rust near the muzzle, and a couple of very minor scratches on the furniture.) It looks like it was shot once or twice max, then put away in the attic. (Cross-posted from West, By God) Additional: I really need to find out if there is a possibility this gun was manufactured before 1959. Any thoughts? I know the Remington 878 Automaster was manufactured from 1959-1962.
Ammo Safety RulesI hope someone can help with my question. I do not own a gun but I am definitely a supporter of 2nd amendment and NRA and gun ownership. My question concerns my neighbor who is a hunter. On 2 occassions this past summer I found undischarged shotgun shells in my yard while mowing the grass. I have also picked up a shell in the street in front of our house. I'm certain they belonged to my neighbor but I don't quite know the correct way to deal with this. If the unfired shells are not a big danger then I don't want to appear as some kind of anti-gun looney and cause poor relations with him but if on the other hand he is being irresponsible and endangering us and the children in the neighborhood then I should talk seriously with him. Can someone help put this in perspective for me?

A Post-Mortem on Maryland SB.43A take on what the proposed (now-dead) assault weapon ban SB.43 would have meant in Maryland.

Buy a Truck, Get a GunIn what I'd consider a fairly balanced news article, I have to ask: How cool is THIS ? Of course, not everyone is happy:
But, as a counterpoint:
Man oh man, wish I lived in PA. Never thought I'd be saying that....
Before... and After...You know how sometimes you just happen to find something you like, and even though you like it just fine the way it is, you can't help but futz around with it? Well, I'm that way with my Winchester model 1300 12 gauge shotgun. I bought it a ways back as a basic home defense gun. Here's what it looked like when I brought it home:
That's box-stock. It's the National Wild Turkey Federation version (hence the "NWTF" on the stock) which is a basic shotgun for hunting, well, turkey; I was drawn to it simply because of the black matte finish and the inexpensive price tag (under $300, new, and it was drilled and tapped and came with a Weaver rail for mounting a scope). Here's what it looks like today:
Modifications include an ATI three-round magazine extension (for a maximum of 8 rounds), Tac-Star pistol grips fore and aft, and a fiber optic sight. Future modifications include some sort of light, heatshield with ghost ring sights, and a sling. This is rapidly evolving from a house gun into more of a SHTF shotgun, though. Might be time to find a nice unassuming piece like Bruce got for a house gun... (Cross-posted at Toys in the Attic).
Question of the DayWhat's under your bed? Yeah, so maybe I was just looking for an excuse to post this picture.
